The trust story

GoblinLedger exists because the existing gold tools ask you to install a desktop app from a stranger's website and just… trust it. We built the opposite:

  1. Free addon, open source. It does three things: scan, encode, show a copy box. ~150 lines. Read every one of them.
  2. Nothing to install. No desktop app, no background process. You paste a text string into this website. That's the entire data pipeline.
  3. Read-only, human clicks only. The addon never buys, never posts, never touches your gold. It can't — it only reads the browse window you already have open.
  4. Throttled by design. One scan per minute max, disclosed publicly. Aggressive scanners lag the AH for everyone; we refuse to be that addon.

Will this get me banned?

No. Reading the auction house through Blizzard's official addon API is what the API is for — Auctionator and TradeSkillMaster have done it for years. Bans target automation: bots, auto-buyers, input mirroring. This tool automates nothing; every action is your click.

How do you make money?

The addon is free forever (Blizzard's rules, and our principles). The website will offer an optional premium tier — deeper history, push alerts, API access — while the core price data stays free. No paywalled scans, ever: the data is the community's.

Who runs this?

An independent WoW player who started in 2004 and got tired of sketchy installers. One maintainer, boring-reliable infrastructure, public status page.
